The ultraviolet radiation in the wavelengths between 100 nm and 400 nm in the electromagnetic spectrum between visible light and x-rays.

It is subdivided into four bands: UV-A | UV-B | UV-C | V-UV.
UV-C germicidal provides the action associated with the UV disinfection. The germicidal range is between 200 and 300 nm; the maximum germicidal action (disinfection) occurs at 265 nm.
It is totally different from the chemical disinfectants that inactivate the microorganisms damaging or destroying the cellular structures.
Ultraviolet lamps produce UV photon radiation, which are then absorbed by DNA molecules in the organism, breaking hydrogen bonds. This reaction prevents the DNA duplication and becomes inactive molecules.
With a sufficiently high dose of ultraviolet rays, genetic alteration is such that the micro-organism ceases to function and therefore dies.

The property which has DNA, present in the nucleus of the molecules of all microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, fungi, and cysts) to absorb UV radiation produces the effect of breaking the chains of the amino acids in proteins, causing metabolic disruption affecting their reproductive mechanism and thus achieving its inactivation, eliminating their properties to produce diseases and microbiological growth. One of the major benefits when applying UV light for disinfection purposes is that any chemical are not used to it.

Disinfection is considered as the main mechanism for deactivation or destruction of pathogenic organisms in order to prevent the spread of diseases transmitted through the water, both under water users and the environment.

It is very important that the wastewater is adequately treated before the disinfection activities for the action of any disinfectant is effective.
The disinfection system effectiveness with ultraviolet light depends on the characteristics of the residual water, the intensity of the radiation, the exposure time of microorganisms on the radiation and the configuration of the reactor. For any treatment plant, the success of the disinfection activities is directly related to the concentration of colloidal particulate components in the wastewater.

Traditionally the channels of UV disinfection required long channels to install horizontal lamps being very inefficient in space.

Our developments over 20 years have been directed to UV disinfection systems with vertical lamps that minimize the space required for installation and increase the safety of its use.

The layout of the vertical lamps allows you to create many barriers that make it minimize the risks of lamps cast.

The design of the equipment allows to change a bulb in seconds without having to remove the modules of the water. This provision allows, without having to prepare a maintenance operation, leave all the modules operating at 100% so as to ensure the most restrictive settings of disinfection.

Another major advantage is the safety of operation as these systems have no submerged electrical connection. This prevents any electrical or condensations problem and especially exempts from liability the plant’s operator when changing lamps operations are performed.

All models feature a mechanical cleaning system that allows to maintain the sheaths of quartz in a proper condition.

This system is operated with an electric motor and it allows us to reposition it when it is resting both within and outside the water.

The regulatory system installed in our systems enables us the largest market power optimization. The "row by row" systemallows turning off lamps that are not necessary for the disinfection process. The PLC analyzes the flow of the water to be treated and the transmittance and adjusts the number of lamps to be lit are necessary to ensure the requested UV dose.
